What it is: When an individual return is rolled over from one year to the next, the system automatically carries the basis and loss amounts from Schedules D, J, K, L, M, N, B, and R1 into the new year. The transferred field remains open and editable.
When converting the forms (from one year to the next), the following data will now be transferred:
| Current field | Field on next fiscal year's form |
| Schedule D, Line 34, Part 5 | Schedule D, Column B, Part 6 |
| Schedule J, Part 8 | Schedule J, Part 8 |
| Schedule K, Part 7 | Schedule K, Part 7 |
| Schedule L, Part 8 | Schedule L, Part 8 |
| Schedule M, Part 6 | Schedule M, Part 6 |
| Schedule N, Part 6 | Schedule N, Part 6 |
| Schedule B, Page 1, Line 1A | Schedule B, Page 2, Line 2 |
| Schedule R1, Part 2, Line 5d | Schedule R1, Part 2, Line 5c |
| Schedule R1, Part 2, Line 6d | Schedule R1, Part 1, Line 1 |
Benefit to the user: There is no longer a need to manually re-enter loss and basis carryover figures each year; the year-over-year transfer on individual returns is accurate and effortless.
Note: The field will remain open ("data entry") so you can adjust the amounts if needed.
