This article explains how to transfer information from Form 482 to the federal Form 1040-SS, Schedule M, within Expert Tax.
To transfer information from a 482 to a 1040-SS follow the steps below.
1. While in the 1040-SS, press Transfer 482.
- The program will provide a display where you can select the specific 482 form that you wish to transfer from the taxpayers profile.
2. If you want to distribute the total sum between Taxpayer and Spouse, check the option Distribute by percent the amounts from Schedules J, K, L and M and set the percentages.
Press Transfer.
NOTE: The only expenses that are transferred are the fields that exist in both forms (482 and 1040-SS), otherwise you must enter them manually in Other Expenses on page 2 of the Schedule M in the 1040-SS. The basic information of taxpayer and spouse will also be transferred.
